BATU RINGAN/ AAC BLOCK

Batu Ringan (AAC Block / Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Block / Light Brick)

Introduction

Batu Ringan, widely known as AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) block or AAC brick, is a lightweight, precast concrete building material. Manufactured by mixing sand, lime, cement, water, and an expanding agent, it undergoes high-pressure steam curing (autoclaving) to create a cellular structure filled with microscopic air pockets. Its lightweight nature drastically speeds up construction while significantly reducing the overall dead load of buildings.

Key Features & Advantages

  • Lightweight & High Speed: Weighs up to 70% less than traditional red clay bricks, allowing for larger block sizes that accelerate wall construction and reduce labor effort.

  • Thermal & Sound Insulation: Cellular air-pocket structure provides superior heat resistance (keeping interiors cooler) and excellent sound dampening between rooms.

  • Fire Resistant: Excellent fire-rating performance, capable of withstanding extreme heat for hours without structural failure.

  • High Dimensional Accuracy: Smooth, precise edges reduce the thickness of thin-bed adhesive and mortar required, producing ultra-straight walls.

Primary Applications

  • High-Rise & Commercial Buildings: Ideal for internal partition walls to reduce total structural weight on columns and foundations.

  • Residential Houses: Outer envelope walls and inner room partitions for enhanced energy efficiency and noise reduction.

  • Firewall Partitions: Party walls and stairwell enclosures requiring high fire-resistance ratings.
